I got this barely more than two weeks ago, and it does seem to have improved, but last night I had to screw with it a bit.

Sometimes I turn the hotspot off & on again. Sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes, and sometimes it shows up, but won't connect until after a few tries. Ok, so the problem is that after the laptops & iPad have been separated from each other, it almost always takes 5 or 10 minutes for the iPad hotspot SSID to start showing up again. Without paying extra, the iPad would have had unlimited 4G, but other devices connecting to the iPad's hotspot would have gotten unlimited 3G. I actually paid extra $25/month so that other devices, such as laptops, will also have 4G.
